The Yves Saint Laurent Monogram Wallet is a breathtaking piece that’s bound to keep us excited. We are all about them classy and dangerous designer pieces, and by the looks of it, this wallet really is the ‘femme fatale’ of small leather goods – pretty small if you really think about it, but if you look closely, you could see how fine the craftsmanship on this thing is. Seriously, if you want to buy a designer wallet, consider a YSL – you won’t be disappointed at all.
This piece is a classic zip around (secures all your stuff!) which is large enough to fit all your hard-earned moolah – made with 100% calf skin leather, this is durable enough to withstand years of use (and abuse). You can never go wrong with the material used in this wallet. Inside, there are twelve card slots, a coin pocket, two bill and receipt compartments – a fully functional piece indeed! What more would you ever wish for in a wallet?
I know what you must be thinking ( I’m crazy for even thinking about this), but hear me out. Last week, all you helped me make a very important choice. After writing the article and reading all of your comments, the choice was a no-brainer. I went out and purchased the Saint Laurent and then went home that night and started wearing my brand new bag around my house. After wearing it for a bit, I began to notice something. The tote is python-embossed leather, and also the Saint Laurent representative explained that the bag is made of calf skin and made to feel as a true python without the potential for falling scales over time, as can be a issue with actual python. I wore the bag crossbody around my property, and since this tote lacks a smooth surface, the tiny hairs of my wool sweater kept getting caught in the “scales” of this bag. Owing to that friction, I also noticed that the “scales” began to lift up and bend. I am nervous if I wear delicate blouses, such as silk or lace, the bag might cause pulls. I’m also worried of the opposite effect–that wearing something of a more coarse material may hurt the delicate bag.I don’t want to worry about what I’m wearing and the repercussions when I want to carry this bag. Other than that issue, I love it so much, and I’d be devastated if the leather frays from continuous wear. My primary concern is that I need this tote to age well, and I am not sure if this end will look exactly the same as it does right now in a year’s time. When you have a look at the close-up photo below, you can see a few of the leather mounting. Although that is the organic texture of the bag, have any of you had similar troubles with embossed python? Am I better off buying this bag for the croc-embossed feel, which is much smoother and could wear better over the years?
